Flooded Kitchen? What to Do Next

Dishwasher failures, sink supply lines, and refrigerator ice-maker lines are some of the most common kitchen leaks. Water hides under cabinets and flooring, so fast action matters.

What to do right now

Shut off the water

Close the valves under the sink or behind the fridge, or the main valve if you cannot find the source.

Empty the base cabinets

Pull everything out of the sink base and nearby cabinets so air can reach the cabinet floors and walls.

Check under the flooring

Soft spots, lifting laminate, or water seeping from grout lines mean water is trapped underneath.

Document it

Take photos of the source, wet cabinets, toe kicks, and flooring before anything is removed.

Call us

We use moisture meters and thermal imaging to find hidden water behind and under cabinets, then dry or remove only what is needed.

What not to do

Do not run the dishwasher or ice maker again until the leak is repaired, and do not wait for cabinets to air dry. Water under cabinets can sit for weeks and grow mold out of sight.

We work with your insurance company

We work with every major insurance carrier. Our estimates are written in Xactimate, the same estimating software your adjuster uses, so our scope and pricing line up with your claim instead of fighting it. We document the loss from day one with photos, moisture readings, and drying logs, and we can work directly with your adjuster so you are not stuck in the middle. In most covered losses, your out-of-pocket cost is your deductible.

Frequently asked questions

Can my kitchen cabinets be saved?

Often yes, if drying starts quickly. We can drill small holes in toe kicks or remove them to dry the cavity under cabinets. Particleboard that has swollen usually needs to be replaced.

How do I know if water got under my floors?

Lifting, cupping, or soft spots in the floor are signs. We use moisture meters to confirm before anything is torn out.

Do you work directly with my insurance?

Yes. We work with all major carriers, write our estimates in Xactimate, and document the loss with photos and moisture readings so your claim keeps moving. In most covered losses you only pay your deductible.
